My Zumba Story
I began my Zumba journey in 2006, in an effort to lose 50 pounds of mama weight. I was instantly hooked when I took rockstar Asuka's class for the first time. I bought the DVDs and Zumba'd in my living room four nights a week. Six months later I had dropped 25 pounds and was ready to take my love for Zumba and life-long passion for dancing and put it to use.

I opened my first class in 2007 and by then, had reached my weight loss goal. A year later, I was recruited by an agency to teach at federal fitness facilities and by 2010, I brought Zumba to Joy of Motion. Now five years later I'm teaching full time and have lost 60 pounds in total.

Not only did Zumba help me lose weight, but it allowed me a fun, creative, sexy outlet and inspired me to become active in dancing again...something I had lost after career and motherhood. I grew up in a ballet studio, studied jazz and modern throughout high school, joined a Philippine dance troupe, school dance teams and lived on the club dance floors all through college. But after graduation, career, marriage and babies, all that came to a halt...until I found Zumba.

Reinspired, I took up classes in Samba, Afro-Brazilian, Flamenco, Belly, Bhangra, Hip Hop and yoga. I have also recently completed training for Zumbatomic (for kids) and Zumba Toning. As I continue to pursue my passion for dance, I also continue to help others fall in love with the best way to fitness...Zumba!
